Wrong key in ignition |
|
My wife put the wrong key in her new 08 Eos (we have 3 VW's). After she got the right key, the car wouldn't start. Any ideas?

Call a locksmith because you probably damaged the ignition switch and it need to be replaced.ask him if he can fit the new switch to the same key as the original. This is a usual problem for others. It's nice that the key didn't broke inside the ignition.

/\ a locksmith
will be one of 2 things;
barrel is damaged
or the car is self 'locked' because you tried to start it with the wrong key it thought you were trying to steal it so it self locks!!
not sure how you unlock it though!! ask your vw dealer would be the best option.

You need to leave the key in with the ignition on. for up to a hour. if this does not work then the dealer will have to reprogram your keys. Make sure you bring all keys to dealer.
good luck

Yep its the safe mode of the car. you will probably need to call your dealer to get it fix. You need to reprogram the key.
