Windshield wipers will not shut off

I have a 2002 Jetta GLS and the wipers will not shut off. I have tried to move the wiper stalk up and down a few times figuring maybe it was stuck but that did not help. Is there a relay for the wipers or is the wiper switch bad?

Also is there a way to pull Check engine light codes from the car without using a tool?

you have a bad wiper motor.

have seen this several times just replace the motor.

the check engine flashes giving you the codes, the problem is that you need to get which is which.

to do this, turn on the ignition but don't crank the engine. Leave it there, and wait until it starts flashing. The flashes are numbers, i.e. it flashes twice, then a small pause and 1 more flash. this means "21". You need to find out what does the 21 code means. I don't know if this can be found on the internet. A VW mechanic will tell you easily what are the codes.

Sorry Flash code reading has been gone awhile you need a code reader or VAG-COM. Sad
