where can I find a/c diagram 2001 jetta |
|
My Jetta blows hot air on a/c max and pressure on the low side is like 120psi. I want to see a layout of a/c system to get familiarized before taking to shop. Can anyone help?

Brantley manual is full of the wiring schmatics |

The Brantley manual shows the system well. I will bet your condensor radiator or compressors leaked out the R134 fluid. If your are real lucky you could go get the vacuum box that Harbor Freight sells for like 20 bucks, hook up a cheap set of gauges and a buddies air compressor to use the Harbor Freight suction box, suck the system down and see if it holds the vacuum then throw in the R134 in the amount printed on your under hood sticker about just under two cans. I would get the cans with the extra freeze power and with oil at Autozone and add some oil to the system it probably all blew out with the R134. If your real lucky some new oil will swell the seals on the compressor and all will be well. Other than that it is a huge job. I did it on my daughters 1998 Beetle 2.0. Removed the front of the car yes thats right two fenders and front grille, then replaced the rec/dryer, condensor, compressor, expansion valve and all seals after flushing all the lines. Suck the system down let it sit for like an hour to make sure it holds real tight then service up with R134. The A/C compressor gets serviced with oil then you put in the R134 gas with out oil, you do not want to over do the oil if you know the compressor oil level is full. If you have the system apart you open the oil port and fill the compressor before servicing the system with the R134. Also I usually get some expanded metal and cut out a condensor guard out of the expanded metal paint it black and tie wrap it to the front lower valvance just ahead of the a/c condensor radiator assembly you can hide this gaurd usually on the back side of the lower car valance and ahead of the a/c condensor. The thing is real fragile and small rocks bouncing under the car will put pin wholes in it. It took me two days to do the above work on my daughters car after getting all the right parts. Get the seals at the VW dealer generic ones will leak if the wrong size and they are all different sizes in the system. What a pain to get parts and not get riped off. Look in Florida for the outfits that overhaul the A/C compressors if you need one they are just over two hundred something overhauled with the same warranty as a new unit. Well good luck. Throw a can of R134 at it and see if it works. The A/C system needs to be run in the winter to get the oil around in the A/C compressor to keep the seals lubed and swelled or your car will leak R134 out the seals on the Compressor shaft. VW has not learned to cycle the A/C on in the winter for defrost to keep the seals lubed. So I tell everyone run your a/c for a minute once in awhile in the winter leave the heat up on the heat knob and throw the a/c switch on for a minute once a month should do it. My wifes cabrio I just threw a new a/c condensor at it did not suck it down and threw in the R134 and that has been working fine for several years now so you can go as little or as much as you want on that system do as little as possible. The daughters Beetle needed the compressor was locking up and squeling. Good Luck
