Whats your Mileage?????? |
|
Welcome everyone, or should that be whats up evryone.
I am wondering if anyone has a ny good suggestions to better fuel economy. I am currently driving an'02 Jetta 2.0 bone stock. I am getting around 28-31mpg and was wondering if this is considered good or if it can be improved with some inexpensive do it yourself mods. I am open to any suggestions and would like to hear how everyone else is doing on mileage these days. Gas is just getting out of hand to be playing around anymore.
Thanks in advance for the help.........

for Cali fuel you are getting pretty dame good.
My Passat and Euro Van both average 28 to 32 miles on SHELL 91 octane.
thats the only fuel I use in my cars. My fulley built 3.0L Corrado gets 25 MPG thats with 12.5 to 1 compresion. and a crap load of performace mods.
so you see you are right on not going to get much better. With out some fuel cleaning and some motor work with a good tune up to gain about 1 to 3 more not really worth the money to have it done.
hope this helps.

I bought a 05 1/2 preowned from a private party about a month ago. It had 50,000 miles on the car. The first thing I did was put full synthetic oil in it and started to test the gas mileage on the car. At first I was quite dissapointed in the mileage I was getting. I drive between 350 to 400 miles a week in the car and was only averaging around 19 mpg. My commute is around 50% highway and 50% streets. I have a tendency to have a lead foot, which in this car it really sucks down the gas. I have dramatically changed my driving habits since. The last 2 tanks of gas I am averaging 30 mpg! So a word of advise, keep off the pedal in this car and use the cruise control as much as you can and you will see a dramitic increase in your mileage.

I Want better ! |

2000 Beetle, TDI. city 30+ mpg, Hwy under 140 kph I'll get in the low 40's but when I'm a really good boy, that's under 3000 rpm I've gotten 60.38 mpg. I'm looking at putting in a K & N cold air intake, a BullyDog ECU and a free-er flowing muffler... Would anyone have other suggestions? I'm looking for more torque without a great , if any sacrifice in mileage... and yes I know I've got to be a good boy, lol. Thx in advance.
