VW TOURAN |

Can someone please help me. The motor light in my dash board has lit up. When having it checked at the VW garage I was told it required a computer test. The test seemed to be over very quickly, however I was kept waiting for almost an hour. My car seemed to be the centre point of the discussion for the majority of the people in the administration section.
After a long period, they finally came out and told me the report indicated a "bad responding transistor' it needed to be replaced. The transistor cost would be 350 eur + 200 euro aprox for placing the transistor.
In addition I also have to pay 31 euro for the computer test.
Does this sound normal or possible to anyone ? Does anyone know what transistor this may be ? How it is caused ?
Due to their suspicious behaviour, I do not trust the situation.
Can anyone please advise/help ?
Kind regards,
Pepe

The car performed exceptionally well. It has Cornering Light. Its body suffered only modest intrusion and deformation during the frontal impact. The protection the child restraints gave in the frontal impact was poor. The protection the Touran gave to pedestrians was good. It becomes the second European designed and manufactured car to achieve a three-star result.
