 tried to start car when in gear, now it wont start at all |

My friend tried to start my vw golf while it was in gear and now I can't get it to start at all, does anyone know how to rectify this?

 if the car was running, your start maybe dead... if it was not running take the shifter and pull it all the way back, then shove it into park kinda hard but don't hulk smash it ok you could break something lol. if that don't work let me know if its trying to turn over or if its just clicking or doing nothing.
o and try making sure your battery is still connected. i had a Toyota MR2....o the horror

can you turn the key at all? If not apply pressure to the wheel and try to start it
