Hello all, I have seen this website before and I find it very helpful for owners of Passat's. I have a 1999 VW Passat that will not shift from second gear. It seems that it might be a Censor, but I am not sure if the Transmission might be going. It only has 110,000 Miles, so I think is the Censor.
Also my ignition at times does not get enough gas and stutters before starting. I changed my Fuel Filter, but still does it once in a while. I am more concerned about my transmission.. Any Help would be appreciated. Thanks

so what your telling us is that it shift into second but will not up shift. from there.

right.

a full explaination would help from start up to driving when it happens, how long has this been going on, and does it happen all the time.

The Tranny runs on second and dashboard is all dark. It goes into reverse rough when shifting. The car runs in second at all times... Any help is appeciated. Thanks...

Allright The PRNDL is back is all dark and the letters are now bright,
there is a problem in the Trans. TCM the computer for the trans.
you need to have it scaned to determine what ha s happened .

I`ve got the same problem, my Jetta runs only in second gear, and don`t shift up:( i don`t know whats is the problem. All time in second gear:(
