transmission help! pleaseeeee |
|
I bought a 98 vw gti a few months ago and because of the snow i havent been able to work on it at all. the reverse gear in it was gone and i bought a new transmission for it. ok so i have two questions first off the transmission code, the guy i bought the transmission from said that CHE and DFQ transmissions are interchangeable? is this true? If not im screwed. anyways second question... so i finally got to work on my transmission cuz all the snow melted and it got warm outside. This is my first time taking out a transmission and it wont come out. like it seems to be caught on the flywheel or something when i try to pull it out. so im really confused. and hopefully someone can give me some guidance so i can go drive this car! thanks

there is a smal plate on the back side near the out put flange for the passanger axle.
that plate needt to be removed and then you may need to lower engine as low as you can with out hurting anything.
then use a sissor jack to push engine foward this will give you room to rotate trans up ward to clear the axle flange in the rear.
good luck.
as for the trans code there is small gearing differances but the trans does bolt right up and most of the sensors or the same just double check every thing before you put back in.
