Things to look when purchasing a used car |
|
Hello,
I would like to know from you what are things you should look for when purchasing a used car, especially for VW fans like us
I think that the engine should have less than 100k km, with proper documented manteinance. I don't care to much about tires because they can be easily replaced, but interiors should be perfect. Moreover, manteinance should have been done on VW authorized centers only.
What else you look for when purchasing a used car? Thank you for sharing tips

Clean history - no crashes.
No rust - but this must be checked by some experienced man - rust can be covered with the paint esaily.
Knowing last drivers habits - proffesional drivers or old drivers are good drivers usually I mean - they do not handle roughly with the car.

Check these on test driving No running Hot! .. a smooth low idle .... Ac or heat that works. no funny noises when shifting gears.. no sounds of air seeping in with the windows up and driving at good speed.
Visual checklist .. no dirty brown wheels that indicate problems with the breaks, no pools of fluids under the car. a good clean engine. all doors and locks and the boot and hood work properly..
well the list can grow in this topic.. these are just a few tips from me...
anyone else?

a full VW service history and make sure the car hasn't been crashed. a clean interior is also important....

the mileage..
good, clean interiors
engine in good running condition (you have to have somebody who has experience in looking at engines...faults could be easily hidden)
a test drive could also show some kinks that you couldn't figure out when you are just visually inspecting the car...a noise here...squeaking in another...
