Soon to be a Golf owner

Hi Folks

New to the site, I have at present a G reg Polo Fox, which is in need of a new exhaust and a couple of boots, it a fun motor but there are a few issues

I have been offered a 1989 Mk2 Golf 1.3, 46,000 miles and it's immaculate, no rust anywhere, some service history, original bill of sale

It's never had a radio in it, the blanking plate is still present and it has the original rubber bung where the arial would go

Inside is as good as the outside, no tears or even any smudges

All this for £700, is it worth it?

Hello From Canada, Wow, such low mileage. i routinely work on vehicles that are crowing the 200,000 mile mark. I look at vehicles as a depreciating asset. I checked and new cars can be had in London for 100pound/month. Ignoring down payments, insurance, and the tax man, You can if its in good shape, be way ahead of the crowd. 700divided by 100 means the 8th month is free. I payed 500 pounds for my much higher milage jetta. that included the repairs I did myself. That was a year ago, and it purrs. Its not real pretty, It has 266000km or almost 160,000 miles. Its legal, safe, warm ,and reliable. A far better deal than a new one. I encourage you to barter a bit, and perhaps have a qualified mechanic take a test drive. I bet the price is negotiable, and the mechanic can find a bit of time for you. Good Luck allan
