Removal of altenator from 1974 beetle

I have a 1974 beetle with a motorala altenator that uses an external voltage regulator

I want to remove the alternator, this is more difficult than I had expected

I have removed the carburator, the fuel pump and lossened the strap holding the alternator, I have also removed the 4 bolts securing the part the altternator is strapped to.

Also the 4 bolts that secure the fan housing are out.

At this point I am stuck

Any help on what to do next would be appreciated

Also I would like to find out if there is any way to test the motorola external volage regulator (with 4 spade terminal connector)
