passat problems |
|
I am looking for a code scanner for a 2001 passat. The car is having numerous problems. Rough idle, loss of power, stuttering on acceleration etc. The car has been well cared for, but I have grown tired of the monkeys at the dealership! It sees that if their computer does not tell them exactly what to do, they just throw parts and my $ at it.
also why are some vaccum lines clamped on an others not? Where is the power combi valve located on this car? Oh yeah.... 1.8 t

actron makes a good code scanner I have the 9150 which cover all obd1 and obdii systems except obd1 in vw go figure.
I bought mine on ebay was 259.00 about 3 yrs ago when I bought a saturn with obd1.
also autozone will code scan for free but most of them don't know how to interpret the codes.

I bought a cheap ODB-II scanner off ebay for around $35 - works fine on my '99 Passat v6 - reads the 303 code (misfire cylinder 3) when the check engine light comes on and lets me clear the codes. Came with a booklet and software application to look up the codes.
