Hoping someone can help here, i have a 51 plate passat 130TDI. when driving it generally is ok but when i put some strain on the engine by accelerating the temp gauge shoots up, i have renewed the fan and bearings also the thermostat, but the problem still persists.

Any ideas.

Surprised WOW should have done that when T-Belt was done.
The Water pump has plastic impeller that over time brakes in such a way. That does not show over heat at lower speeds. But when temp rises or higher engine speeds then she shows her ugly face.
When you have it change replace the pump with a metal impeller they cost the same price.
