MK4 Golf GTI Central Locking Fault

Hi, my central locking used to work but for about 6 months, now to get in the car i have to manually open them using the key i also have to use the key to open the windows. If i press the button on the key it takes the alarm off but i then have to use the key to open the doors, Any ideas on what this could be.
