Post left foot breaking with electronic throttle Reply with quote
I have a Golf GT (okey it's not a GTI) and thought guys with GTIs might have a better clue as to whether you can use the left foot break technique with electronic throttle systems. I experienced understeer the other day and wanted to try it out and I did with the ESP off but it felt like it was only slowing down and the engine was not revving. I read that electronic throttle systems may close the throttle if the break pedal is pressed which of course would make the technique useless. I also read that maybe since the left foot is used for the clutch, I tend to press far more therefore stopping the car rather than simply "massaging" the breaks and damn those breaks bite hard! Took me a couple of days at first to learn not to throw my body forward when breaking even at low speeds. Anybody knows anything about this?
