 key programing |

hi everyone i have a small problem i hope someone can help me, i had a new key cut at the dealer which works but will not keep the car running does anyone know the sequence to program the alarm system without taking the car to the dealer. the car is a 2000 new beetle 1.9tdi

they sould have programed you key the same time they cut it for you.
did you buy it thru parts department only?
