I have this 74 vw old beetle. The turn signal lever is missing so I'm installing an aftermarket switch. I've found out that there is a flashing lead current cable that comes from the flashing relay that goes to the indicator on the speedo and to the turn signal lever switch connector and to the hazard lights switch. Both on the steering wheel and on the hazard lights switch is the Right and Left cables going to their respective sides.

So tell me if i'm right: If i connect that cable that comes from the relay to the switch to toggle to one side to another, it will work, right? I hadn't understood how it works since the indicator light on the speedo is practically closing the circuit since it is grounded on the speedo housing.

I hadn't tried anything yet, it's just something I'm guessing by looking at the wiring diagram. I think it needs some current to get it to work, but i see that the relay is already fed with current via the ignition key that feeds the hazard light switch and then to the relay. Maybe i'm wrong on where that current comes from.

Just tell me if connecting the cable that comes from the flasher to switch and from the switch to each side can make it work.

Thanks a lot you guys.
