Jetta issues, maybe electrical or sensor. Please help. |

Ok, my 2000 Jetta just started doing this. While driving it, within the first few minutes the interior lights will all come on and a loud dinging sound will come on. When I press the lock button the niose will stop but the lights will stay on, but if I open the door (while driving) and close it the lights will go off.
Could this be some type of sensor?

door chiming |
|
I've been having the same problem. MY driver door chimes at random times and i have to open and close while driving. I have inspected the door and can't seem to find a loose sensor, I think its the computer that runs all the wiring for the left side of the car. My guess is your passenger doors don't ding. To be honest all i can tell ya is do a diagnosis with a computer, or just pray for a recall on it.

Well all of you have the sam problem it is your driver door latch modual.
this has small micro switches in it that tell the car if the door is closed or open.
Your doors are closed just a electrical problem with the latches.
this is very common with newer VW doors all cars but Jetta's seam to fail more often than others.
there is a new updated unit that VW has made that replaces the old unit.
