Please help. I travel for about a mile and without putting the heater on hot air begins to come into the car from the vents...then after about another mile it will stop and go cool again. My son says it's a fault with the make..is this true. Confused He owns a Golf.

Does any-one have any ideas what this could be? I drive for a mile and the heat can be overpowering. No burning smell. Then after a mileish it goes off. I haven't put he heater on at all. Could it be something to do with the air-con?
