I have a 93 passat vr6 and just recently something went in the engine thats making my car idle at higher rpms' than normal. When i start the car instead of staying at 1000 rpms' it keeps reving at 3000-3500 rpms'. Does anyone know what could be wrong. a buddy of mine says it could be my timing belt, could this be true?

not your timing belt anyway!! if it was it wouldnt run properly at all!
i dont know the vr6 injection system very well but someone who does will be along shortly
