Help...95 Jetta won't start in hot weather. |
|
My Jetta 2.0 GL won't start when left outside in the hot weather. It starts and turnsover perfectly when the outside temperature cools, but when left outside in the sun it won't start. When I turn the key, it won't crank. All my dash lights come on and all other electrical seems to be ok, but the starter won't crank. I've checked and cleaned my electrical harnesses and they are all clean and secure. Seems like I'm not getting any voltage to my starter. Is there a known faulty relay or sensor? I've seen similar problems in the forums, but there doesn't seem to be a fix. Hopefully someone has an answer...thanks for your help.

The car works perfectly, as long the the temperature outside is not too hot. The only time I have trouble starting the car is when its been sitting out in the sun for a while. The battery is new, no corrosion on the terminals. Starter is fine, no voltage going to the starter when I'm having starting troubles.

Jetta Won't start when sitting in Sun |
|
This has been the problem with my 98 Jetta as well. My mechanic thinks I'm crazy because it will ofcourse always starts right up when I take it there. For the last 2 years during the summer when my car has been sitting for a while in the sun it will not start nor even crank. After 15-30 mins. with the windows down it starts right up. It is the biggest pain in the butt and nobody seems to know the cause.
