head gasget.

hi,im new to all this and was told this was a good site for info,so here we go.i've had my vw polo for about 6 months and the car has cost me next to nothing but i've had a few problems,it all got fixed up for its MOT and was running great then without warning it started overheating so i had a look under the bonet and saw that there was sludge in the oil and expected it was the head gasget and my theory was correct. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what i would need to fix it,parts,ect and if its difficult or not i would take it to a garage but moneys tight and ive had some mechanical experiance so im not going in blind,olso if there is any sites that are good for directions. thanks craig.
