Hello,

I just started with a problem with my VW GTI 2002. The Temp light just started showing up. It happens just 1 mile after I start going(or less). At the beginning I saw the coolant finished (Which I think it properly showed the gauge alert) so I refilled it; but the light is still showing up(after several times I have started the engine).

The coolant level is fine (although I think is finishing a little very quickly). However, if the level is still good, why it immediately shows up the temp gauge light?

I hope you can help me in where to start before bringing it to the service...I am not very good mechanic Confused

Thanks a lot,
Armando.

Just got solved my problem:

Problem:
The temp meter was going to it max: 130 and then the temp gauge was shown.
It had the properly level of coolant so it seems like the problem was not the lack
of it. Also, I noticed the coolant was being finished quickly, although it never
arrived to be less to the minimum level. The fans were working properly but
they did not make the temperature to be decreased.

Diagnostic:
The temp meter arriving to the max level and therefore the gauge light was beeping.
There are 3 hoses on the front of the motor engine where the water circulates. 1 of them
was really hot but the one that connects to the thermostat was just cold(The lower hose).
That made us think the water was not properly circulating throught the whole motor engine.

Solution:
Initially, the mechanic verified if the thermostat was burned, broken or damaged
that would not be opening when the engine arrived to the proper temperature.
It looked fine, so he now he verified the the water pump and it was broken in the
plastic piece. This piece is a little helix that makes the water to flow when it gyrates.
He just replaced the water pump and the problem was solved.

Cheers,
Armando.

It was not allowing the water to circulate.
