Got my Touareg |
|
Got it.
As promised her is my feedback following a week of driving.
Color: Reed Green / Black interior
V6
Package 1
mileage - 270 miles
Traded my 03 passat, no doubt a step up.
My review-
Thus far I am satisfied with the performance and feel of the ride. While needing to get used to automatic, coming from a manual passat, the automatic shifting is taking some getting used to. The electronics are relatively easy to navigate after taking an hour to familiarize and review. Living in a climate where we have 12'F days with negative 0 wind chill factors, the car has no problem starting cold, warms quickly and responds well to the tempature setting.
Performance, while I have not yet opened it up, getting on the expressway is seemless. Shifting is smooth, no jerking. One thing I have noticed is that when the foot is taken off the gas, the touareg does not coast, rather, slows quicker than anticipated. Unsure if this is a result of the touareg's weight or is a result of the type of V6 engine? Nonetheless, equates to less need to ride the brake, etc., once use to the feel of the vehicle.
External sound (road noise) is limited, even at speeds of 75mph. Sound system is ok, nothing impressive. I was priviledged to have the Monsoon sound system in the passat which I believe had better sound than the system I have in the touareg. The recessed seatbelt clips are difficult for children to buckle into while sitting in boosters, requiring me to buckle them in. Cargo space is more than sufficient for my purposes. The dealer threw in the collapsable cargo carrier which is great for putting market bags or related into (not sliding around the back as you drive).
Fuel consumption, well, no surprise here. While 90% of my driving is city (>40 mph) with the remainder expressway (60-75mph) I am calculating about 15.9 miles to the gallon. I have only put 200 miles on the car so I am optimistic that the fuel consumption will only improve. However, going into the touareg, I knew that this is not a vehicle known for its fuel efficiency.
I still have yet to learn how to use the inflatable spare tire, next week maybe
The overall quality of the touareg seems solid, not artifical.
