 GOLF MK3 CUTS OUT!! |

I recently bought a 1993 golf cl, 1.4, 5 speed. When coasting with the clutch and the battrey light and oil pressure light flashes and the engine cuts out. Also randomly the oil pressure light comes on and it bleeps when the engine is warm. I have changed the oil filter and oil, and the level is not low. I was wondering if anyone could help with this problem Thank you

My 97 cl does have the oil light problem too, it is caused by the oil pressure dropping when you enter into the lower rpm range. if you just down shift to a lower gear, your rpms should rise and increase the oil pressure to turn off buzzer. Either replace the oil pump w/ a bigger one from a 2.0l engine or install a oil cooler unit to keep the viscosity from getting too high. Hope that helps. vw windsor
