fuel gauge stopped |
|
just wondering if there is a fuse for the gas/fuel gauge??? mine has a full tank of gas and the gauge isnt reading.
i pulled the panel under the dash but nothing there listed has anything to do with gauges. is there another place to look?

Hello, Goodnews///bad news Yes there is a circuit, that controlls a number of things. Most VW's, Power usually flows from the key switch to the voltage stabiliser, then to the coolant temp guage , and fuel guage. then to the in tank sending unit. From there it grounds into the fuel pump ground wiring. The bad is they are awkward to diagnose.
Have a hard look at the printed circuit connections on the back of your instrument panel. Thats the weakest link. The good news is that the sending units are easily accessed from the top of the tank without tank removal. There is a plug on most that you can test for power. Happy fixing Allan
