Engine Idle - Polo 1.4 (1996) |
|
I have a 1996 1.4 Polo Openair and am having some issues with the engine. When I take my foot off the accelerator, it will not Idle most of the time and then sometimes, it idles but over-revs. The diagnostic says that there is a problem with the idle control in the Injection Unit (or so I'm told) but this has been replaced and it has not made any difference. Can anybody give me some advice on this? My only other option is to leave it with the mechania and hope he can figure it out before it costs me a bomb!!

Hello, Most of us have never seen a Polo. However your mechanic might want to have a close look at your throttle cable. A broken wire in this cable gives the same symptoms, and the computer has no method of diagnosing a braided wire cable
issue. Sounds to me that something is binding. Good luck Allan
