Drive belt broke on 65 beetle |
|
I purchased a '65 beetle yesterday and on my way home the drive belt broke! I stopped the car immediately and replaced it, however, the engine got hot - it was smoking!
Afterward I could not get much power our of the car - I could only get up to about 40mph tops! I'm new to the air-cooled engines. Can you help me with what I should start checking to find the problem? Thanks,
Harin

Hello Harin, Good news and bad news. The good is a real fast mechanic can drop that air cooled motor out in less than 6 minutes. Yes and putting it back in is real easy, although slower.
Those units were real bad for overheating. Send me your e mail and I will help you daemdaem@yahoo.com Allan
