Cost of Maintaining the GTI (estimate)? in Toronto Canada...

I am new to the forum and first time to post, and have been reading and looking at the pics for awhile in the main page, and I must say you guys are lucky to have the GTI.

I currently own a Jap car, but looking forward to getting my 1st german car. But before that, my questions are as follows:

1.) I want to know roughly how much does maintaining the GTI cost? Let's say for average oil change, and brake repairs, and just the day to day maintenance?

2.) How much does parts cost for GTI? Just regular parts like brake pad replacements, wipers blades, and just regular parts that need to be replaced.

3.) How often does the car need to have oil change and all that, for my japanese car (Mazda), I usually do it after 4000-5000kms. What about the GTI?

4.) With regards to oil, what kind of oil does this car need? I heard that the car needs a specific type of oil? Are these Engine oils available at Canadian Tire?

5.) I heard that you can put Regular Unleaded gas for the GTI, but the recommended is Premium Unleaded Gas, is there a difference? I heard that engine problem arises when you put Regular unleaded.

6.) How much did you pay for you 06-08 GTI? including Tax (Toronto, Ontario)? I was checking out the VW site and the pricing and with the final specs i want (ie. w/ Sunroof, 18" wheels) came to final total of about $32,000+. Which dealer is the best here in Toronto?

7.) Seeing that gas prices are going up, is this car even good for an average Joe like me or is this car meant for those who are making $60-50K a year?

8.) Finally, how much is the Insurance for an 08 GTI 4 door? How much are you guys paying per month? I am a family person, looking for a small family car with sporty character in it.

I am thinking of getting the VW 08 GTI 5 door or 4 door on others with the Ground effects kit (is this kit available in VW dealers?)
