Coolant warning light

I have a 03 1.9 tdi passat estate and I love it!!!! small problem, the scary STOP check coolant warning light keeps coming on after about 20 mins driving, flashes for a couple of mins then goes off, coolant levels fine. any ideas?

you have a ect that is going out or your coolant is not flowing very well.
possable coolant pump failing
you need to scann car to check for codes.

volkshaus is in the right area, but also failed to include that the coolant reservior may be faulty. If this happens mainly in the mornings on first startup this is most likely the culprit. If it happens when warm, go with volkshaus!
