Antitheft radio locked |
|
Hello everyone, I have another issue with my 96' Golf. My radio is locked out. The number on the side of the radio is VWZ977S2964846. Does anybody know how I can obtain the unlock code on my own? Or is a dealer my only option?
Thank you

One other thing, the VIN the radio came from is WVWGG83A4VB007302.
Not sure if that is of any help, but thought I would throw it up here anyways.
Thanks.

your code should be like 100X where X is the ? number. you can get it at the dealer or find some one with the manual to go step by step setting the code, which go like this key in ignition not on then turn radio on and a message will appear use preset keys 1 2 3 4 the code and enter wth scan button or up or down cd tracks then look for a signal , done. remember if wron code entered it will lock and you must leave key in ignition for an hour.

Got the code from the dealer for free. I had to press and hold both the "Mode" and "Scan" buttons for a few seconds before SAFE turned to digits. Put the code in and now works like a charm.
...Except the radio reception sucks LOL. Checked antenna connection, I figure the radio is just worn out, time for an upgrade.

At least you can go to the dealer! My cabrio is too old. SO i'm sol. Try leaving the radio on for an hour and see if the code 1000 comes back up. Or, try unhooking the battery for an hour. I'm out of options on mine. Had the car for two weeks and now have to buy a new radio!
