Post Alarm Keeps Setting Itself.. Reply with quote
My 1996 Jetta GLS's alarm system sets itself everytime I turn the car off. It used to happen once in awhile, but now its pretty much every time. I had to get used to opening my door before turning the car off because otherwise, to prevent a scene, I have to roll down the window, deactivate the alarm from the outside without opening the door. It really becomes annoying. Can anyone help?

Could be a broken wire in the loom between door and body.

probably a wiring problem with the alarm switch. Check out if its cut or shorten. If yes, you know what to do. Smile

i have an 01 jetta and it did that too..if you have an after-market stereo that might be the problem. they could have screwed something up..i got mine stereo done at circuit cuty and after that my alarm would go off in the middle of the night or just right when i lock it it. it was annoying. i talked to a buddy of mine and he said that people who put in aftermarket stereo stuff just hack the car up like its their job. but anyways what i did was just not lock my car for a months and then i just one day locked it and its been fine ever since. if you really want you can go to the dealership and they could actually disassemble the horn so even if the alarm goes off there wont be noise. hope this helped a little
