HELP NEEDED FOR AC
WE HAVE A 2006 PASSAT 2.0 AND THE AC HAS NEVER WORKED WELL. IT HAS BEEN TO THE ORGINAL DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS FINE BUT IF I PUT A TEMP GAUGE IN THE AC VENT THE TEMP IS USUALLY AROUND 60 DEGREES WITH THE BLOWER ON HIGH IF I MOVE THE FAN SPEED DOWN A NOTCH IT WILL DROP THE TEMP ANOTHER 10 DEGREES WHICH ISNT EXACTLY COLD WHEN ITS 105 OUTSIDE OR THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE SUN. IT RECENTLY STOPPED COOLING ALL TOGETHER AND I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY REPLACED TWO PARTS AND THEN AFTER IT DIDNT WORK THEY SAID THE COMPRESSOR WAS OUT AND REPLACED IT. ITS A GOOD THING THIS IS A LEASE CAR AND IS COVERED.BUT WE STILL CANT DRIVE IT ON HOT DAYS. ANYBODY HAD THIS PROBLEM? ANY ANSWERS?

I have a 2005 Passat and I'm having AC problems. It's not blowing cold air. A service tech told me that it may be the valve sticking. Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm taking it to the VW dealership on Wednesday and I'm hoping it will be covered under warranty. Jen

Well, I found out this morning that the problem w/ the AC is an electrical problem. My AC has not worked AT ALL in the last week. This morning, it started blowing cold again. An AC Tech told me that it's electrical. So, I''ll bring it back to the dealer in Baton Rouge, LA. I live in South Louisiana..Not a place to be driving around in a hot car!

I have a 2006 Passat 2.0 and it has been at the dealer for repair this summer and last summer. They have it all this week and are having their tech drive it because they say they it has to act up when they have it so the machine can diagnose the problem, they hook it up when I bring it in and it shows everything is fine with the AC. I drive anywhere from 20-75 miles and the AC just stops working. They have replaced all the sensors and the blower but the problem still persists. No answers yet, I'll post some if they find anything. ~Gail

I have had exactly the same symtoms with my 2.0L 2006 Passat air con and I'm currently going through the same process of "the computer says no" syndrome with my local dealer. To date I've visited the dealer 5 times (twice with the car running and the fault clearly present) and the car has been in for checks 3 times.
It's an ongoing issue as I type so I don't know what the outcome will be, (fortunately I understand it's all under warrenty). I've now had enough of VW simply returning the car to me saying they can't do anything else until they can identify the fault via their computer.
VW told me today they had no record of this problem occuring on this model car so I was suprised, (but in a way pleased) to find a post on the web discribing the same problem.
Fingers crossed VW get to the bottom of this and sort both our cars out. I pity anyone this happens to after the warrenty period expires....
In the meantime roll on winter and some cooler weather.

2002 passat A/C problem |
|
I began having problems a few months ago with my AC not working all the time. Brought it in to dealer twice who said everything checked out OK. Next day the AC stopped working (hasn't worked at all since). They are telling me I need a new AC compressor ($2000). Wondering if anyone else found a cheaper solution to the problem. It is not the fan or freon. States that no power at AC compressor and that the resistance at compressor and cooling fan is too high. Suggestions??? Thanks.
