Post ABS, Break, Oil lights on Reply with quote
I have a 99 Passat V6. When I start the car, ABS, Break lights start blinking and as soon as I start driving the oil lights also comes on. I have checked the oil level, it is good. The car drives fine, although when these lights are on the ASR system does not work( pushing the ASR button does not turn it off). Sometimes it works perfectly fine. I got it scanned but did not got any codes, except a message saying 'intermittent ABS signal failure'. The dealer suggests to change the whole electronic control module. The car has ~115K miles.
Anyone with any idea about what could be the problem here.

Hi Pace,

Did you ever receive any suggestions on what to do with your engine oil light and ABS/brake lights? I have a VW Passat V9 (1999) with 93K and I am seeing the same issues.

Could you let me know what the issue was and how you resolved it?

thanks!

2000 Passat 4motion v6 automatic

I had a similar issue.

ABS module had an intermittent fail.

Options were:
1) Replace with Brnad new $$$$
2) Replace with used not as pricy but reliability was quetionable
3) I found a company in the U.S. that fixes ABS modules. Took it out (car will function without) sent it to them and 10 days later I was putting it back in my car. The site had full instructions on removal and re install. I had it back in the car and all the lights went off!
