im obviously new to the vw community. im not really new to tuning or autombiles. i have owned an 84 silverado, lowered, lots of edelbrock under the hood, and the best part is, the damn thing was such a hoopde every one thought the cam was a misfire. after i sold my high school ride, i bought my first tuner. the venerable 91 240sx. Again it took a while but i eventually had a skyline motor, manual conversion and a terrible paint job hanks to some spray cans. i loved it, it would haul ass and no one knew it. well, i toataled it being a dumb nut and late for work one morning. i pulled out in frint of a dodge ram 4x4 and that was the end of it. I drove an old 81 ford for a while,( borrowed) so i didnt spend anymoney on it. just maintanence. it had 367000 miles on the original motor. the carb had been rebuilt, it was a 300ci i6.

anyway i just purchased a 96 jetta. the vin and insurance say its a trek, but its got no bike rack or badging. its a 2.0 with a 5 speed. She has smoked lenses on he tailights, marker lights and foglights. Super clean interior, really nice body and only 142k on it. as of know it needs a tune up, a pre cat 02 sensor and an idle air control valve, a windshield(crack up the middle) and a driver side headlight. i gave 1300 for the car. I dont know anything about vw's save the fact they are german and mine is white. id ultimately like to acheive the sleeper look, rather than the beater look.

any advice is greatly appreciated and will be taken into great consideration.
