Hey guys. i have a 1998 passat 1.8 turbo and the turbo is messed up. i have to replace it but the dealership wants almost 900 dollars for a remanufactured one so i was wondering if anyone knows of a replacement turbo the wont cause any more problems. id pay a little more for a performance one but my main concern is just fixing it without new exaust or anything because of the size. thnaks for all your help!


ps the problem is that oil is getting all into the throttlebody so my dad wh is a mechanic says its the turbo blowing oil cause it went bad but he admits he doesnt know much about turbos

you can get a turbo that has bearings in stead of bushings. but the cost is way $$$$$. you would be better to up grade the turbo. there are some kits out there that do not change the exhaust size or location.
