Hi,
I Have a 96 Golf 8v 2.0lt GTI which intermittently cuts out completely at any speed at any time. Sometimes does not happen for weeks, then happens twice in one journey.
Very worrying when happens at traffic lights at a busy time of day! When this occurs I have to turn off ignition and then on again, wait until I hear a slight hum and it will start again – usually between 10-30 seconds. Else it will just turn over and not fire.
Any help with this ongoing problem would be fantastic.
About twelve-months ago had problem with engine cut-out on idle, but that was solved by cleaning the throttle housing.
