90 jetta rough idle

My 1990 1.8 jetta feels like it's running on 2 cylinders when idling,but doesn't feel too bad during acceleration.Any suggestions?

It sounds like it is time for a major tune up including: spark plugs, spark plug wires (if equipped), fuel injection service, clean the throttle bore, idle air passages, air deflector and idle air control motor. Also replace the fuel filter and air filter.
