Post 8 valve to 16 valve upgrade Reply with quote
a couple of weeks ago i picked up a 1990 wolfsberg edition jetta gl with a 1.8 8 valve and a 5 speed. I was wondering if the block and all the low end components are the same as a 16 valve. Im also curious on if i could convert my 8 valve to a 16 valve. Also what kinda parts would need to be acquired besides a 16 valve head and what is the estimated cost and time it would take to get the job done. I like my car alot but it just dont have enough get up and go and i need sumtin to entertain myself cause my school is an hour away. Thanls for you time and for answering my stupid ass questions

wont work i think. as far as i know the 8v is digi and the 16v is k jet which would mean the looms are different.
if you want more power there are plenty of ways of getting it from that 8v without changing the head.

wont be that hard to do then. if your after power, before you put the engine in maybe you should do a few things to it Smile
be much easier to do now than when the engine is in.

Is that seriously all he did to that Golf? How's the handling, do you know? Would it be up to an AutoX?

Honda blows...as much as I hate to see Calvin portrayed in such a manner....I want a window sticky of that!
