'73 Beetle lose of power and back firing |
|
My '1973 beetle started with a very slight back fire, now in the last couple days it has started to seriously back fire, and has lost a bit of the power it used to have behind it. Any ideas what is cause this?

If the timing has not changed I would go for a burnt valve or valve that is lashed too tight not closing al the way easiest thing to do would be to take a compression check or check the valve rockers and make sure they are within tolerance and go with what the results tell you.
