Because there is a concern that has been detected in the ECM. The cars computer needs to be checked out.

Thank You, My daughter said that her friend has a bug. She said that her check engine light has been on for a while and that she has had no problems whatsoever,

it may not cause a drivabilty concern but it should be checked out. as it could cause a big repair cost down the road.
