2003 passat switchblade key |
|
So my girlfriend owns a 2003 vw passat and she lost her switchblade key and is now useing the valet key (sux). I found the uncut key part of it on ebay and I was wondering if I bought this, if it would work if I bought a switchblade key and added the uncut key to it? I am on a short budget and wanna make sure this will work before I spent money on it. Also, roughly what would be the cost at the dealership to do this process? I have no knowledge on VWs as I own an Acura. She is just talking about getting a new key and I wanna surprise her. Thanx in advance for the help!!!

Well DO NOT buy the the KEY from E-bay as they will not work. I have had more customers do what your trying and they do not work.
Find a online VW parts Dealer to have them order a key that is cut per VIN #. Then take it to your local dealer to have it's Immobilizer programed for her car.
You will spend more money trying to find a key that might work but really will not.
The keys on e-bay will work great for none Immobilizer cars 98-2000 but any new model with Immobilizer they do not work for crap money wasted.
good luck.
