2003 Beetle GLS TDI |
|
In January, after driving a 1969 beetle for nearly 38 years, I finally traded it in for a 2003 beetle TDI. The dealer suggested to use a combination diesel/biodiesel or biodiesel alone. Is there anyone in this forum who has the same model beetle and uses biodiesel? If yes, what is your experience? How does the engine like biodiesel? I understand that there is controversial information circulating regarding the efficiency and less-polluting quality of biodiesel, which I find rather confusing. Any relevant information to this topic would be welcome.
Thank you!

Biodiesel! |
|
Biodiesel is like beer, it loves you all while you are drinking her, but in the morning you have that nagging headache! When weather is warm(above 65F) TDIs will run happily off Bio. Like the people who do veggie conversions, you need a seperate tank so you dont clog up fuel injectors when you shut her down for the night. VW recommends no more that 5% biodiesel in their vehicles and soon to go to 20%. Yes the vehicle will operate properly with bio. If you live in a colder state, Then you run the risk of gelled fuel and no starts. As always you must decide what you want and what you should do. This is just my .02.
