2002 Jetta TDI: Is 15w 40 oil okay? |
|
I'm new to my 2002 VW Jetta TDI and loving it, but it's time to change the oil. Although according to VW, the proper weight of deisel oil is 5w 40, the only available oils at the local auto parts stores is 15w 40. Can anyone with more experience tell me confidently if this is too thick or alright to put into my engine?
Thanks so much!

NO!!!!! you can only use special oil made buy VW, ask your dealer i don't remember what it's called, it's a bit expensive. If you don't, it will run but WILL ruin your whole engine.

The years that need the volkswagen oil are 2004 and on with the PD engine. The older engines the Alh engines can use synthetics that meet the 505 specs.
