2001 Jetta Headlight Assembly Replacement |
|
Hi, I'm a first time poster and I have a problem with the driver's side headlight on my 2001 Jetta. The light lens has become very foggy and I'm obviously looking to replace it. When I pop the hood all I can really tell is that there are two "hexagonal" (star-like) screws, but I don't believe these are securing the actual headlamp. Can anyone tell me what exactly needs to be removed to go about doing this replacement. Thanks for any help!

YOu have to take off the from bumper of you want to take out the headlights. First take off the grill but be careful with the hood switch attached to it. you can leave it all together to be safe. there are 4 of those bolts there and a black plastic behind it. remove all of the clips and wires first and then un-screw the headlight. It'll take about 1 hour to an hour and a half to get it out and all back together.

hey i just did the headlight replacement on my jetta. Preatty simple job, the screws in the fender splash guard must come out also. the grill removal as two0slow advised you must be careful. Once the grill is out the 4 bolts under the grill come out and then there are 2 under the towing eye grills, 1 on each side. The side marker light are still attached so don't pull the bumper cover out quickly. 4 bolts hold on the headlights. Good luck.

Me & my friend just tried this stuff yesterday with his ride. I told him not to pull the bumper and he almost screw the marker light.
