2000 Jetta VR6 that is having intermittant overheating issue |

I have a 2000 Jetta VR6 that is having intermittant overheating issues. The two fans up front are not coming on. Can you advise me where the fuses are located and if you have additional advise on overheating issues, I would appreciate all the help I can get. I can drive the vehicle for a while and it seems to do ok but will eventually start overheating.

check the conections at the fan and there is a 3 wire conector on fan control switch. it is located on driver side lower radiator area.
check to see if there is power to the two large red with black trace wires should have battery voltage.
good hunting.

First check for coolant leaks. The most common placeis the rear coolant flange. Minor seepage is all it takes. Second if the fans are intermittent, the fans are more than likely starting to fail. Due to the close proximity of the fans to the engine, the fans get alot more heat that that of the 4 cylinders. So check those and you will most likely find your gremlin!
