I 've just aquired exactly the same problem! From the car running OK, to not starting. I am going to try replacing the Temp. sender, which I think tells the car what the temperature is, and thus regulates the fuel.

You need to verify that fuel and spark are happening at the right time.
Are the spark plugs fuel foiled?
Do th espark plugs have good blue spark while cranking? do you have good compresion in the engine?

Good to see some quick feed back.
On furhter investigating along the lines you have suggested, the car is now running!
Took the air filter off and engine cover, removed a plug and checked for a spark. This proved to be ok. But as I spun the engine over, I thought I heared it try to start!
So I put the plug back in, and sure enough, the car started!!
I then turned my attention to the air filter housing. When I removed this, I noticed what can only be described as, 'gungey Guiness' oozing out of the air filter box.
Removing the top, there was a lot of crud around what looks like some sort of crank case breather valve.
So; replaced the air filter (very dirty & covered in this frothy crud) and cleaned out the air filter box. I used a carberettor/injection cleaner spray.
Re-assembled all, and the car seems to work fine for now.
Hopefully this proves to be cure and there is not something else behind this, waiting to fail?
So my question is (stopped messing with cars when black boxes and lots of pipes started being used to make engines run) how does this stop the engine from running? Is it something to do with the air flow control?
PS. the only thing I can think of that is different before the car would not start, is about a week ago, we had the engine oil changed and flushed!?
Hope this is of use to anyone else who has had a similar problem.
