01 Passat alarm problem |
|
Hi all. This is my first post.
I have a UK 01 Passat with a factory fitted alarm which keeps going off ( siren sounding) everytime the door is locked.
Ive heard this system is built into the loom and cannot be disconnected but I was wondering if this is a common fault and do I have to take it to the main dealers to get it sorted ??
Thx.

sounds like you have a bad door lock module.
common thing that go's happens it could also be a differant entry point that is bad a good shop can look at what is setting of the alarm and pin piont what to do.

Hi Ken Ive got a simular problem my alarm goes off from time to time. Isent it to a auto electrician who said he coudent find a problem but thincks that water is gettin in to the area near the battery were the siren is located and causing a conntact this then sets the alarm off. he feels that the water could be gettin in to the engine area via the windscreen. Have you sorted yours yet.

The alarm horn is water tight.
find a VW shop that can scan your alarm codes and what has been setting th ealarm of. this will tell you what is goning on.

hi ken, this is a very common problem, if you lift the carpet in the passenger footwell you will probably find it is full of water. this is where the convenience control unit lies for central locking. the water will be leaking from the pollen filter housing. you will probably find that the terminals and wiring for the control unit are corroded causing eroneous alarm activation. if you take it to a VW dealer they should be able to repair it under warrantly/goodwill
